English course in Cambridge, England

Learn English in historic Cambridge, one of the most quintessentially ‘English’ cities and famous the world over as the home of the University of Cambridge. Named for the River Cam which flows through it, Cambridge is a city in East Anglia, around 60 miles from London. The university defines much of the character of Cambridge, from the stunning architecture to the myriad of cultural attractions. By taking an English course in Cambridge you will be studying in a city designed with students in mind!

Start by exploring some of the famous colleges, where you will rub shoulders with current students, as well as take a step back into history! Then take a punt down the River Cam, where you will see the colleges from a unique perspective, as well as the beautiful Backs, the landscaped gardens that face the colleges across the river. Stop off at one of the city’s many fantastic cafes or restaurants to recharge your batteries, before taking a stroll down King’s Parade, where you will find a 15th Century Church and some of the best shops in Cambridge! End the day by crossing over the cobbled street to King’s College Chapel, which, with its high vaulted roof and stunning stained windows is perhaps the most recognisable building in the city!

Our English school in Cambridge uses two centres, both of which are located very centrally. The main school building is of the Victorian period, and is just a very short walk from the railway station. It is also just 10 minutes’ walk from the city centre. The facilities are excellent and include 22 bright, spacious and fully-equipped classrooms, as well as a learning centre which includes a library, study area and multimedia facilities. The school also has a cafeteria which offers breakfast, lunch and snacks, as well as a lovely garden!

The second building is used almost exclusively during the summer period, when the school welcomes a higher number of students. This building is just 15 minutes’ walk from the city centre and offers 20 fully-equipped classrooms, 4 computer suites with free Internet access, a lovely garden and a cafeteria! The English courses offered by our school in Cambridge are all total immersion courses and are therefore taught completely in English. You can choose from the ‘Intensive’ course of 20 lessons per week or the ‘Super-Intensive’ course of 28 lessons per week. Our school also offers an ‘Exam Preparation’ course for students who wish to prepare for the Cambridge or IELTS exams.

Why not practice the English you learn in the classroom with a native English-speaking host family? Your hosts will welcome you into their home and provide you with your breakfast or evening meal! This is always a very popular option amongst our students, as it allows maximum exposure to the language, as well as providing a very ‘English’ experience! All host families are selected very carefully, in order to ensure that the quality and security of the accommodation meets the strict requirements that we have for our students. Our school also offers student residence accommodation on a self-catering basis, which is a fantastic option if you prefer to stay with other students more independently.

To help you make the most out of your time in Cambridge, our school also offers a fantastic cultural activities programme! All the activities are designed to help you practice speaking English as much as possible, as well as help you learn more about the local area and culture! The exact activities offered will vary from week to week, but examples of typical activities offered include a range of sports, arts and crafts, visits to local museums and other local places of interest, English-language film evenings, conversation clubs, cookery demonstrations and many, many more! Some activities will incur a small additional charge payable directly to the school and all activities are optional!
